I Am Hosting Hogs For The Cause in New Orleans

I am excited to announce that I am hosting Hogs For The Cause in New Orleans on June 4th & 5th! Large (BBQ Judge) & his wife Anne are coming along for the journey too. Hogs is a huge BBQ and Music Fest that raises money for families fighting pediatric brain cancer. In 2019, they raised a whopping $2 Million! 

13 years ago, Becker Hall, Rene Louapre and a few friends gathered together at The Fly on the Mississippi River to cook some barbecue to raise money for a family whose child was fighting pediatric brain cancer. Over the last decade, Hogs For The Cause has evolved from that small event into one of the biggest barbecue festivals in the country featuring a whopping 75 teams! As Hogs grew and this being in New Orleans, they decided to add music into the mix and now the festival features a world class lineup to go with all the food. This year's event takes place on a 15 acre piece of land just minutes away from downtown New Orleans. 

This is a massive deal to me for a lot of reasons. I lived in New Orleans from 2009-14 and attended this event 3 times. My friends from the South are all over the BBQ teams. I am passionate about supporting a great cause and how can you beat a world class barbecue and music festival in New Orleans?!?!?! 

On Friday night, the teams compete in a bacon and chicken wing contest (Judge Mintz!). Robert Randolph (with guitar prodigy Taz and the Soul Rebels) are headlining along with NOLA legend Anders Osborne. Late Friday night, it gets wild as the 75 BBQ teams smoke meats all night and have parties at their respective places on the 15 acre plot in Belle Chasse. There will be bands, DJs and who the hell else knows what else going on and I plan to enjoy the whole thing.  After Midnight in New Orleans….Sign me up!

The party starts again on Saturday morning at 11 and goes all day. Old Crow Medicine Show, Super group Dragon Smoke (Stanton Moore/Rob Mercurio/Ivan Neville/Eric Lindell) and Andy Frasco & The UN are going to throw down while we crush some world class BBQ (Judge Mintz again). The party goes on until we announce the champions at 8:00 PM. 

I have been outspoken for New Orleans at Barstool since my first day when the Saints beat the Bears on All Saints Day when I did a live stream with Big Cat. This pumps me up so much to see the Barstool and New Orleans relationship building for the future. Cannot beat the food, music and culture in the Big Easy and I am thrilled to show this to the stoolies around the world!
